Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) — The Third Wizarding World Adventure
Harry Potter returns to Hogwarts in an atmospheric, magical adventure directed by Alfonso Cuarón. The third film in the beloved series, based on J. K. Rowling's novel, introduces ominous Dementors, a mysterious escaped prisoner and secrets that change everything Harry believes about his parents.
Detailed Story Synopsis
After another miserable summer with the Dursleys, thirteen-year-old Harry Potter learns that notorious prisoner Sirius Black has escaped from the wizarding prison Azkaban. Rumors suggest Black is hunting Harry, so the soul-chilling Dementors are stationed around Hogwarts to protect the school. Their presence, however, affects Harry more deeply than anyone expects.
During his third year, Harry studies with new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor Remus Lupin, who helps him master the Patronus Charm. With his friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, Harry uncovers hidden connections among Sirius, Lupin, his late parents and the betrayal that led to their deaths. A mysterious magical map, a strange black dog and Hermione's unusual schedule add to the puzzle. As danger closes in, Harry and Hermione undertake a daring race against time to save innocent lives and uncover the truth.
Balancing thrilling fantasy, friendship, humor and a darker coming-of-age story, Prisoner of Azkaban is a standout chapter in the Harry Potter film series.
