The Teahouse of the August Moon (1956) — Classic MGM Comedy — DVD — Used
In postwar Okinawa, well-meaning American military officers try to introduce democracy and modern ways to a small village, but their plans take an unexpected turn when the villagers have very different ideas about what their community needs. Captain Fisby (Glenn Ford), aided by his resourceful interpreter Sakini (Marlon Brando), finds himself helping the villagers build a teahouse instead of the schoolhouse his superiors expected. This satirical comedy explores cultural misunderstandings and the absurdities of military bureaucracy.
