Detailed Movie Synopsis
In medieval Britain, King Arthur (Graham Chapman) travels the countryside in search of brave knights to join him at Camelot. Accompanied by his faithful servant Patsy (Terry Gilliam), who supplies the sound of galloping horses with a pair of coconuts, Arthur encounters a string of eccentric characters, bizarre obstacles and arguments that defy all logic.
After assembling an unlikely band of knights—including Sir Lancelot the Brave (John Cleese), Sir Robin the Not-Quite-So-Brave-as-Sir-Lancelot (Eric Idle), Sir Bedevere the Wise (Terry Jones) and Sir Galahad the Pure (Michael Palin)—Arthur receives a divine command to seek the Holy Grail. Their noble quest quickly becomes an escalating series of comic disasters.
Along the way, the knights face a ferocious Black Knight who refuses to admit defeat, a fearsome rabbit with a deadly bite, the mysterious Knights Who Say 'Ni!', a castle full of temptations, and a bridgekeeper whose riddles have very serious consequences. Every heroic convention is turned upside down through Monty Python's trademark wordplay, visual gags, animated interludes and gleeful disregard for historical accuracy.
