Jude, a young dockworker from Liverpool, travels to the United States and meets Lucy, an American college student. As their romance grows, they become swept up in the cultural and political changes of the 1960s—from the Vietnam War and antiwar protests to the music and artistic experimentation of New York City. Their relationship is tested by shifting ideals, personal loss, and the turbulent world around them. Songs by The Beatles bring their journey to life.
