Sing (2016) — Animated Musical Comedy from Illumination
Dream big, sing loud and discover the star within! From Illumination, the studio behind Despicable Me, Sing is a joyful animated musical comedy packed with memorable characters, big laughs, heartfelt moments and crowd-pleasing hit songs.
Detailed Story Synopsis
Buster Moon, an endlessly optimistic koala, is determined to save his beloved but struggling theater. His last-ditch plan is to stage the greatest singing competition the city has ever seen. But a printing mistake advertises a much larger cash prize than he can afford, drawing an extraordinary assortment of aspiring performers from across the animal kingdom.
Among the hopefuls are Rosita, an overworked mother pig who longs to dance and sing again; Johnny, a young gorilla torn between his musical dreams and his family's criminal business; Ash, a teenage porcupine rocker trying to find her own voice; Meena, a gifted elephant with crippling stage fright; and Mike, a confident, smooth-talking mouse with an outsized ego. As Buster puts together an unforgettable show, each contestant faces obstacles at home and onstage, learning that courage, friendship and persistence matter more than winning.
When Buster's ambitious production threatens to collapse, the performers must come together to prove that music can inspire even when the spotlight seems lost. With infectious musical numbers and a message about following your dreams, Sing delivers uplifting entertainment for the whole family.
